This is a beautiful piece, even through a screen I feel like I’m in the scene with them. Are you lucky enough to see it hanging somewhere?

Unfortunately, no. I came across this when I put together a horse unit study for my daughter a couple years ago. πŸ™‚

According to Wikipedia, it’s in the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.

Rabia, I just found out what you girls were doing with art this Friday and had to check out the art. You have chosen one of my favorite artists, Franz Marc. As a matter of fact, I give mention of the Der Blaue Reiter Group to which he was a part, in my novel coming out in June. Crazy coincidence.

How cool! I actually know very little about him beyond the fact I love this painting! All sorts of funny coincidences turn up when people start posting on the same theme. πŸ˜€

I may find some time this weekend and put something up on this theme even though I posted on Friday. You’re right about coincidences–love it when it happens.

FRANZ MARC!! That’s his name! OMG thank you… I’ve been trying to find his stuff for ages but couldn’t remember his name!

I’m a big surrealist fan, but mostly Dali’s more impressive pieces. The Metamorphosis of Narcissus was my fave for a long time. There’s also a Magritte piece that reverse3s a mermaid, but it’s a dolphin head and human body. Also love Munch’s The Scream.

      You’re welcome. πŸ™‚

I do art appreciation with my kids, but we’re still in the Renaissance period, currently admiring Raphael’s work. It’ll take us a while to get to Dali!
