A few months ago, I did a series of posts on book titles. Well, over at DGLM, they’re discussing the same tricky issue. I also came across Barry Eisler’s posts on considering the resonance of titles, both automatic and acquired. I’d never looked at titles quite that way before.
And Paperback Writer has a list of tools to help you come up with titles.
Yep, titles. For the moment, I’m calling my WIP Witherwilds, but that’s more of a name for the trilogy. I’m going to have to start brainstorming titles for each individual book… So far, I have zero ideas. π
I love the name Witherwilds! I would totally pick up a book with that name!
I’d suggest mind-mapping. Write down any and all words that occur to you when you think of your book. Branch off from those words. You’ll likely find a lot of themes and imagery emerging from this exercise. Good luck. π
