monday giveaway

monday giveaway

The book for this week’s giveaway is Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn, the first book of one of the best epic fantasy trilogies I’ve ever read. I love the world, the premise, the magic system, the characters, the action scenes…. but you don’t have to take just my word for how good it is. Leave a comment to enter the drawing by 8 pm EST on Thursday, the 22nd of July.

Oh, it goes…. sporadically. πŸ˜› It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks, but I planned for that mentally, so I won’t fall too too behind. You?

How does it compare to Elantris? Did Sanderson’s prose improve in the intervening time? Because, while I thought the premise behind Elantris was intriguing, I was never able to get into the story and did not finish it.

I like (okay, loved!) the Mistborn trilogy and his standalone Warbreaker much more than Elantris. His prose isn’t beautiful (workmanlike is what I’d call it, *grin*), but he makes up for it with some really cool ideas, neat characters and a darn good high-stakes plot.

That sounds so tempting! And another author I’ve never heard of.
    Count me in Rabia.

You can put my name in. I was just on Amazon looking for Sunshine since I didn’t win that one! So thought I would see if this one was something I could throw in the cart as well and they only offer it through third party sellers. !! Hard to find already? πŸ™

oops! Never mind. Apparently Amazon has it listed twice–one edition is not available but the other is.

I just finished the Wheel of Time novel that Sanderson co-authored with Robert Jordan and loved it. So I’m looking out for the first volume of the Mistborn books, which I’ve heard are his best!
