Amazon unveils Kindle Fire, its own tablet, as well as some other additions to the Kindle family, including a basic no-frills version for only $79.

I’m more than happy with my current selection of gadgetry (and I really do not need any more power cords and battery lives to keep track of, thanks) but I’m curious to see how these will do. What do you think?

    I am very intrigued by the Kindle Touch. And the Nook Touch. In the end, I’ll have to see which one fits my needs better. I wish Amazon would sell epub files along with their own format. They would have me as a customer for certain if they did.

      Yes, from a consumer’s perspective, that would be the way to go. However, I think Amazon is more interested in driving traffic to *their* content than in selling gazillions of Kindles. They’re content-providers using cheap(er) hardware as loss-leaders, from what I gather. It’s the razors/blades model in play (or, plasma torches/consumables ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).
